How it works

Three steps. Nothing to learn.

The cover is a real calculator that solves real math. The vault only opens for the exact PIN you set.

Step

Looks and works like an ordinary calculator.

Hand the phone to a friend or a border agent. They see a calculator. It does what a calculator does.

Step

Type your secret PIN and press “=”.

Your PIN is just a number. No special menu, no long-press, no telltale icon to find.

Step

Your private vault opens.

Photos, videos and notes — decrypted only in memory, only while you're here. Lock the app and they're gone.

Features

Built for the worst-case visitor to your phone.

Cover, encryption, and recovery — designed together so any one of them can be wrong without losing your data.

Hidden in plain sight.

Disguised as a real, functional calculator. No second app, no toggled icon, no hidden gesture that gives it away.

Cover

AES-256, on-device.

Strong encryption derived from your PIN. Nothing readable is ever written to disk — not thumbnails, not previews, not metadata.

Encryption

Photos, videos & notes.

Organize into encrypted folders. Open, view, edit a note, watch a clip — everything happens inside the vault.

Content

Optional encrypted backup.

Back up to your own Google Drive. The encryption key is derived from your PIN — even Google can't read what's inside.

Backup

Shoulder-surfing defense.

Screenshots and screen-recording are blocked inside the vault. Switch apps and it auto-locks back to the calculator.

Defense

Multi-step recovery.

Recovery email plus a security question plus a one-time cipher you save — so a forgotten PIN doesn't mean a lost vault.

Screens

The five surfaces of Calculator Vault.

From the cover that anyone can see, through the encrypted folders and the note editor only you can.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

Short, factual answers about how Calculator Vault works, what it costs, and what happens to your data.

What is Calculator Vault?

Calculator Vault is a free Android app that looks and works like a normal calculator while hiding an encrypted vault for private photos, videos and notes, unlocked by a secret PIN.

How do I open the vault?

Enter your secret PIN on the calculator and press =. The calculator face slides away and the encrypted vault opens.

What if I forget my PIN?

Recovery is multi-step. First, the security question you set during setup. If that fails, a developer-assisted reset is available — email support@nova-soft.uk.

Where are my photos stored?

On your device, encrypted with AES-256. Nothing readable is ever written to disk — not thumbnails, not previews, not metadata.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Calculator Vault works fully offline. Cloud backup is optional and only used when you turn it on.

Is my backup private?

Backups go to your own Google Drive, encrypted with a key derived from your PIN. Only you can restore them — Google itself cannot read the contents.

Can anyone tell it's a vault?

No. A wrong PIN just shows a normal calculator result. There's no telltale icon, hidden gesture or secret menu — it is a real, working calculator until the correct PIN is entered.

Is Calculator Vault free?

Yes — free with ads. A one-time Premium purchase removes ads and unlocks unlimited folders and unlimited files. No subscription, ever.

Which Android version is required?

Android 8.0 (API level 26) or newer.
