Privacy Policy

Nova Soft ("we", "us", or "our") develops and publishes the Simple Calculator application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide voluntarily:

• Email address — optionally provided during initial setup, used solely for identity verification if you contact support for account recovery.
• Security question and answer — stored locally on your device in encrypted form. We do not have access to this data.

Information generated automatically:

• Device ID — a randomly generated unique identifier (UUID) created on first launch. It is not linked to any hardware identifier and is used only for support verification purposes.
• Analytics data — we use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage data such as app opens, feature usage, device type, operating system version, country, and acquisition source. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
• Advertising data — our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may collect device identifiers, IP address, and interaction data to serve relevant ads. See Section 5 for details.

2. Data Storage and Encryption

All sensitive data stored by the App resides exclusively on your device and is protected using industry-standard encryption:

• Files are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with keys managed by the Android Keystore system.
• The local database is encrypted using SQLCipher.
• Your PIN and security answer are stored as cryptographic hashes only — we cannot recover or view them.
• Decrypted data is never written to disk; it exists only in memory during active viewing.

We do not have access to any content you store in the App. All encryption and decryption happens locally on your device.

3. Google Drive Backup

If you choose to create a backup, the App stores an encrypted archive in your Google Drive's App Data folder. This folder is private and not visible through the Google Drive interface.

• The backup is encrypted with a key derived from your PIN before upload.
• We do not have access to your Google Drive account or your backup data.
• The App requests only the drive.appdata scope, which limits access to the App's own data folder — it cannot read or modify any other files in your Google Drive.

4. Google Analytics for Firebase

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used and to improve the user experience. This service collects:

• Anonymous usage events (e.g., feature interactions, screen views)
• Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
• General location data (country and region level, not precise location)
• App installation source and acquisition data

This data is aggregated and anonymized. It does not include any content you store in the App, your PIN, or any personally identifiable information. You can opt out of analytics data collection in the App's settings.

5. Advertising

The free version of the App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain data to serve ads, including:

• Device advertising identifier
• IP address
• General location data
• App interaction data

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the App displays a consent dialog before loading any ads, in compliance with GDPR. You may choose to consent to or decline personalized advertising.

Users who purchase Premium receive a completely ad-free experience, and no advertising-related data is collected.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties. Data is shared only with the following service providers, strictly for the purposes described above:

• Google AdMob — advertising (free users only)
• Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymous usage analytics
• Google Drive API — encrypted backup storage (only when initiated by you)
• Google Play Billing — processing Premium purchases

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Your Rights

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can:

• Delete all App data by uninstalling the App or clearing its data in system settings.
• Delete your Google Drive backup from your Google Account.
• Opt out of personalized advertising through the consent dialog or your device's ad settings.
• Opt out of analytics in the App's settings.

If you are a resident of the EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, and erase your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

9. Data Retention

Local data persists on your device until you delete it. Analytics data is retained by Google according to their standard retention policies (default: 2 months for user-level data, aggregated reports retained indefinitely). Ad-related data is managed by Google AdMob according to their data retention policies.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including AES-256-GCM encryption, Android Keystore for key management, and encrypted local database storage. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
